Buyer Agency Today
Tuesday, August 25, 2026 (9:30 AM - 12:30 PM) (EDT)
Description
3 CEUs NH and ME. Instructor Shannon Whaley
Buyer representation has entered a new era. Buyer Agency Today is a comprehensive, compliance-focused course designed to help real estate professionals confidently represent buyers in the post–NAR settlement environment while reducing risk and strengthening professional practice.
This course examines how buyer agency is created—both through written agreements and through conduct—and why implied agency remains one of the most significant compliance risks for licensees. Students will learn how to conduct an effective buyer consultation, clearly explain representation and compensation, and properly use written buyer representation agreements that define duties, scope, and payment responsibilities.
The course provides an in-depth review of fiduciary duties owed to buyer-clients, including loyalty, confidentiality, disclosure, skill and care, obedience, and accounting. Emphasis is placed on documentation standards, transaction oversight, and communication practices that protect both consumers and agents.
Buyer Agency Today is ideal for agents seeking clarity, confidence, and compliance in modern buyer representation and is particularly valuable for those navigating changing compensation structures and heightened consumer expectations.
